Beaches in Thailand are not all created equally. Beaches where there is a high population, are almost always polluted and just trashy. To find more prestine beaches you need to go a little bit out of the way. For example, the beach where the ferry docks on the island of Koh Larn is over crowded, polluted and unpleasant. If you take the time to go around the other side of the island (about 30 minutes of your time) you will find spectacular and really clean beaches.
